photo encaustics
Encaustic medium is a mixture of melted beeswax and damar resin that is applied to
a surface and then fused with a blow torch or a heat gun. For these images I apply
heated medium to photographs that are printed onto handmade papers and adhered
to a wood substrate. Multiple coats of wax are then added and fused in order to lend
an ethereal and transparent quality to the images .
